About this experience

One of Trøndelag's most distinctive cultural heritage can be found at Helge in Byafossen, Steinkjer. The area contains several burial mounds and stone monuments.

In the mounds, discoveries from both older and younger Stone Age have been found. Very significant are three large monoliths. Originally there were 5 such stones, and at least one of these stands on a mound.

Another form of burial site is also here, in the form of a stone setting with 9 large stones in circles.

Directions: Turn onto FV 762 from E6, by Måsørbrua. Follow signs to Ogndal. After approx. 2 km, turn towards the burial ground. You see the field on your left after approx. 5 minutes. Parking is available to the north end of the field, and higher up, on the way to Helgesmarka.

Alternatively, you can choose Fv 763.
