About this experience

The large, stone-filled dam at Langevatn in Ljosland was completed in 2020.

The water level has been raised by 10 metres, and the variation in water level is 26 metres.

Langevatn in Ljosland is the gateway to Setesdal Vesthei (the western mountains of Setesdal) and starting point for several of the red-marked trails of The Norwegian Trekking Association (DNT).

The parking area for the dam in Gloppedalen is a nice starting point for bicycle trips along Langevatn or for a hike in the mountains.

From the end of the road there are 3 kilometres to the mountain farm Pytten, barely crossing the border into Bygland municipality.
