About this experience

Join us on an exciting trip to Seiland, surrounded by deep fjords and high mountains and ice-covered mountain lakes. Here you will find Seiland National Park and our two glaciers, Seilandsjøkulen and Nordmansjøkulen. The trip starts in Hønseby from our general store where we meet, get information, equipment and possibly warm clothes. Depending on the weather, we plan and walk the trip in safe surroundings. You will be given snowshoes, poles and warm clothes if necessary. Feel free to bring warm and suitable hiking clothes yourself.
We have avalanche detectors that you will be trained to use. (We avoid avalanche-dangerous terrain). If the weather permits, the trip goes up to Storvannet, where we take in a small cabin for something hot to drink. Our local guid will tell you about our island, the pople who lives her, tradition and history. Do you know when the first traces of people were discovered on the island? Or do you want to hear the story about when the population escaped to the mountains in the autumn of 1944/45?
