About this experience

Ørnes Trade Post has history dating back to 1794, when skipper Elling Pedersen was privileged to run the inn and trade here. At one time the facility housed 12-14 buildings, three of which are still standing today. These are among the oldest houses in Ørnes.

The trade post was preserved in 1942 and has been substantially renovated in recent years. There is an exhibition in the main house about local development of society in Meløy. In the bakery we have the exhibition which tells of the 12 brave commandos who, in 1942 under the code name Operation Muskedunder, attacked the power plant at Fykan to stop the Nazi aluminum production in Glomfjord. We can help you find out what Meløy can offer from experiences with historical and cultural elements.

In addition, there is both a museum shop and a nice café where we serve delicious home-made cakes that can be enjoyed in the cozy garden.
