Helgeland, Norway

About this experience

Level: Easy

Length: 3, 3 km

Parking: By the Holm campsite - marked trail.

The Solstad area has traces of old settlement, probably all the way from the birth of Christ. The burial mounds reveal that people with high status - probably one or more petty kings or peasant chiefs - lived in this area in ancient times.

The journey goes via the old Solstad church and graveyard, which was the main graveyard for outer Bindal for 250 years. The trail is suitable for those who want to go for a walk or hike, exercise, enjoy the view, or are curious about local history.
