Geirangerfjord, Norway

About this experience

The large cave is located on the southern side of Bremsneshatten mountain.

Many finds from the almost 10, 000-year-old Fosna culture have been made there.

The cave is Norway's largest, extending 80 metres into the mountain.

In bygone days, people believed that the cave was a hiding place. They therefore believed that the remains found there were those of outlaws and people who had been shipwrecked.

Only recently have we begun to appreciate the extent to which the cave was used in ancient times.

Dramatic legends have been spun around the Bremsneshola cave, like so many other caves.
