Nedstrand Church
Fjords, NorwayIn 1829, a "Normal Plan" was made for church buildings with standard drawings by architect Linstow. Nedstrand church has many of the basic features of Linstow, but architect Conrad Fredrik von der Lippe was somewhat free in his design.
The choir has a stave church character and this makes the whole room seem warmer and more spacious at the same time. The altarpiece is from 1611 and has adorned three churches in Nedstrand. Thomas carpenter is the master of the detailed carvings, and Peter Reimers was responsible for the art of painting.
In 1628-29, the famous German painter Gottrid Hendtzel was also here. These artists have left their mark on many churches.
