Group 9 was founded in 1969. That year was the first summer exhibition held in the "Skipper Sørensen's house".

House's oldest part is from before the great fire of 1761. "Group 9" is intended to provide a forum for both established and unestablished artists.

The purpose of the group is to create interest of the arts in the local community by organizing exhibitions.
