The skiing area at Húsavík is right on the town's doorstep.

Reykjaheiði ridge provides excellent cross country skiing opportunities as does the area around the lake Botnsvatn and the lava fields of Aðaldalur.

Snowboard enthusiasts, on the other hand, make for the highest slopes of Húsavík Mountain where the terraced gradients of Stallar provide them with a steep and challenging course.

The ski lift at Skálamelur, which is within walking distance of the town, is a more suitable choice for children and beginners.
