About this experience

Kópasker is a fishing village on the eastern shore of Öxarfjordur fjord. The main economy is based on services to the farms in the area as well as fisheries.

In Kópasker, the local museum at Snartarstaðir is worth visiting, as well as the Earthquake Center, describing the big Earthquake of 1976.

In Kópasker there is a shop, garage, health care centre, bank, campsite and guesthouses.

North of Kópasker is the peninsula Melrakkaslétta, with its abundant birdlife, and also the northernmost point of mainland Iceland, Hraunhafnartangi.
