About this experience

The current church of Nurmes is the fifth in its series and was built between 1893-1896. The church mimics the late Gothic style from the 19th century, the grandeur of which you can remember long after your visit.

Inside the church, you will find impressive masterpieces: stop to study the Christ on the Cross altarpiece from 1913, which radiates history and beautiful art style of Väinö Hämäläinen. From the altarpiece, you can turn your gaze to explore the beautiful stained-glass windows painted by Ilmari and Seppo Launis from 1934. The huge pipe organ from 1976 will also leave an everlasting impression on you, guaranteed!

The church is a roadside church which means that it has an opening hours during the summertime.
