About this experience

Birkende Church is a beautiful example of Danish Romanesque architecture, located in the small village of Birkende in the south of Denmark. It dates back to the 12th century, and is one of the oldest churches in the country.

Inside, visitors can admire the original frescoes, which are among the oldest in Denmark. The church also houses a number of interesting artefacts, including a rare 15th century baptismal font.

Outside, visitors can explore the churchyard, which is surrounded by a number of ancient gravestones. The church is open to visitors all year round, and is a must-see for anyone visiting the area. It is a great place to learn about Danish history and culture, and to admire the beauty of its architecture.
