When the railway between Viborg and Løgstør was closed, the construction of the nature track, Himmelandsstien, was initiated along the 69 km long railway line. Himmerlandsstien was opened in 2006 and is one of Denmark's longest nature tracks along a former railway line. Along this beautiful track, there is plenty opportunity of taking a short rest or enjoying your own sandwiches. The track runs through a beautiful area and offers several opportunities for taking a break inroofed areas containg grills, water nad the possibility of spending the night in primitive shelters.
