About this experience

Urban gardening or urban farming has been a popular trend in Sweden for decades. A popular form is to sign up for a ‘kolonilott’ or allotment garden, which is a plot of land made available for individual, non-commercial gardening or growing food plants. The plots are formed by subdividing a piece of city land into parcels that are assigned to individuals or families, to be cultivated individually.
