The nature reserve is located 13 km south of Kilafors.

Here, natural forest of the mixed forest type with a large content of dead wood and red-listed species is preserved and cared for.

Some pines in the area are as old as 200-300 years, and several have traces of previous fires.

The forest is dominated by swamp forest with large areas of white moss and bear moss.

There are no marked trails in the nature reserve, but if you want to get to the top of Hästhagsberget, the southeastern part is easiest.
