The nature reserve of Galvån
Hälsingland, SwedenGalvån flows from Galvsjön to Ljusnan, about 6 km north of Bollnäs. With its just over 100 m in drop height of 12 km, it constitutes a rare and nationally interesting environment so far south in the country.
Galvån is the county's most important water for otters and has a valuable stock of trout, a rich bird life and interesting plants.
An easier road follows the river between Galvsjön and Nyfors. Along the path downstream at the rest area at Nyfors, you can take a dip in the river. In the river there are grayling and trout.
If you want to fish, you can buy a fishing license from Bollnäs Fiskevårdsförening (http://www.bollnasfvf.se) Free folders for the nature reserve are available at Bollnäs tourist information.
More information and a digital map can be found on the County Administrative Board's website. There you will also find information about more nature reserves in our area.
