Swedish summer is music festival season, with some offering pretty much all kinds of popular music and others focusing on a specific genre such as folk, electronic or heavy metal. One of the more intimate festivals is Skankaloss in Dalarna province. Skankaloss is a festival in Gagnef, located by the river and surrounded by the forest of Dalarna. It started 16 years ago with a birthday party and over time it has grown into one of the more unpretentious and intimate festivals in Sweden. Besides music there are art installations and performances, as well as DJ scenes.
