About this experience

Bjugn is a coastal municipality and here as in much of the country otherwise constitute tombstones our biggest source group from the Iron Age.

450 tombstones are preserved in the landscape, and tells of a comprehensive settlement and activity here in this period. Some of the cairns on Valseidet is examined and found to contain cremations. It was found rings of gold and silver, needles and fittings of bronze, parts of weapons mmthere are relatively few graves of this type in Bjugn, and probably they are made especially prominent and powerful people in the Iron Age society.
