Setesdal, Norway

About this experience

This is a great family hike, manageable for children aged five and upwards. This is a round trip, and we recommend to walk clockwise. To get to the starting point, follow the road from central Hovden to the bottom of the hill in the cabin area "Hovden Fjellpark". Continue on marked trail to the left. Autumn 2021 a large section of the planned sherpa trail was completed, and this work will continue in 2022. However, this is still a farirly demanding hike, and some people may find it challenging. For families with young children walking time to the summit is about 1, 5 hours. The total length is approximately 4 km. You may walk back the same way or continue on the marked trail to the pass Breiveskaret, which will take you to the upper part of the "Hovden Fjellpark". This part of the trail has some loose rocks and at times wet bog areas. Solid footwear is recommended. The summit awaits you with a stone cairn and a guest book. Download map
