Aluminium museum on Hisøy island

About this experience

The collection to the Aluminum Museum on Hisøy includes 3, 000 utility items for kitchens and everyday needs in aluminum from the period 1900 to 1975.

The items have been found in second-hand shops and at flea markets throughout Europe.

The collection started in 2006 and moved into a newly built museum premises in 2014.

The Norway exhibition shows products from 26 Norwegian factories.

Norwegian production started in 1912.

The big four are: Høyang, Ilovan, Halden Aluminum and Triangel.

The children's world shows miniature toy stoves and kitchen utensils.

The international exhibition shows objects from 25 countries, and here one can clearly see cultural differences in design and needs.

Open for visits with guided tours (in Norwegian): Sundays in September 2021 at 11-15.

Prices: Admission adult NOK 50 per person incl. Coffee.
