Chiefdom at Sandnes

In the banqueting hall in the long house, you can experience genuine Viking history, Viking food, competitions, fun and games, reading corner and sales exhibitions. The Chiefdom at Sandnes is located on a historic site of importance in the unification of Norway as a realm. Legends as well as archeological extractions and finds from the period 800 - 1066 illustrate the history of trade, power, politics and day-to-day life at Sandnes. Memorials of Torolv Kveldulfson and Øyvind Finnson Skaldespiller have been built near the long house and there is also an old cemetary. Situated by Highway Fv17, about 1 km south of Sandnessjøen.
