About this experience

They began building Andenes lighthouse in 1856.

It’s made of cast iron on the outside and bricks on the inside.

La Maire, a Danish lighthouse expert, led the workers who were mostly from Møre.

Andenes lighthouse was finished in 1859 and was lit the 24th of September that year for the first time.

At 40 meters, Andenes lighthouse is one of the tallest and most beautiful lighthouses in Norway. When you get to the top, you can step out on the balcony and take in every bit of the view. On clear days, you can see well over 20 kilometers, including Senja and Bleik island.

When you get past the first staircase, you enter a small souvenir shop, where you can read all the funny t-shirts or buy something nice to take back with you. This is where you’ll buy the ticket for the lighthouse. If you do, you can also get a discount to visit Andenes museum, which is located near the lighthouse.

Opening hours11: 00 – 18: 00 every day in August.

11: 00 – 18: 00 Monday-Saturday for the rest of the year.
