The Planet-path at Sandvedparken
Ryfylke, NorwaySandnes’ green oasis stretches 3. 5 km along the Storånå watercourse, from Sandnes to Stokkelandsvatn lake in Ganddal. Sand volleyball court, playground and idyllic picnic spots. Located in the park is the protected Skeiane farmstead with wooden houses now deemed worthy of preservation. Around Stokkalandsvatn lake you can enjoy an almost 4 km long walk through a landscape rich in contrasts with heather-covered hills, open grazing land and groves of trees. The reeds that grow by the lake are a type that were traditionally woven into mats and used as cladding on buildings in Jæren. The area around Stokkalandsvannet lake has a varied flora and fauna. Here, you also find the Planet-path; a 1: 1 billion scale of our solar system. Along the path, you see the sun, the different planets and at 5, 95km, Pluto. The planets are placed along the Storåna river, while Pluto is found by Stokkelandsvannet lake. Transport: Train to Skeiane station.
