The museum is made as a small fishing village with houses, fishermen’s shacks, cod-liver oil factory, engineering workshop and a large collection of boats. It portrays local coastal culture, working life and living conditions from around 1850.

The guided tour gives you a great impression of the life and work on the Romsdal coast. You will also visit a boat hall showing various types of boats which have been used until recently.

An "åttring" is an eight oar rowing boat which represents a continuous boat building tradition from pre-Viking Age.
