About this experience

Rennesøy is part of the unique island landscape in Ryfylke, and is located just in between the North Sea and the fjord landscape of inner Ryfylke. This location makes for a large range and variety in nature and landscape. The area has eight islands that are inhabited; Rennesøy, Mosterøy, Bru, Fjøløy, Vestre Åmøy, Sokn and Brimse.

The green islandsThe cultural landscape at Rennesøy has been shaped through thousands of years. The climate is maritime, mild and humid. The islands in this particular area are green for the most part of the year. The animal life here is rich, and there is a wide range of sea birds and fish registered. Two nature reserves are found in this area; Bjergavatn and Førsvollvatn.

Recreational areasThe eight islands offer opportunities for people arriving by boat, nature lovers, culturally and historically interested visitors. The long coastline also gives good fishing experiences from both boat and shore. Several lovely swimming zones and nature hikes possible.
