About this experience

Rasterkalv, an ancient battlefield, is located close to Frei Church.

This was the site of a battle in 955 AD between the Viking king Håkon the Good and Eiriksønnene, the sons of Eirik.

Håkon conquered his opponents, but Egil Ullserk (Egil Woolshirt), Håkon's most important ally, died and was buried at Rastarkalv.

A memorial stone commemorating Egil stands next to the church.
