The mountain formation Brurastakken is visible from the sea and is an eldorado for geologists on field work. Here you have a fantastic 360 degree view.

Few places have a richer and diverse geological history as the Askvoll area. The geological history spans a long geological time, about 2 billion years. On Brurastakken you will find traces of three mountain range fields, a result of continental plates colliding.

A geology trail has been arranged which starts at the hill approximately 2 km from Herland.
