In Snipetorp you can find the old Skien with continuous wooden houses from the end of the 18th century. Snipetorp was one of old roads to the city. The regular citizen stayed here.

Today, most of the houses are restored and it's a very attractive living area. The former very wealthy parents of Henrik Ibsen, after Knud Ibsen's bankruptcy, moved to Snipetorpgata 27 in 1843 with their 5 children.
