Þakgil is located in a beautiful valley, surrounded by mountains, 20 km from Vík by road 214. These conditions make the weather inÞakgil very mild and calm, and a lovely little freshwater stream trickles though the camping site and in front of the houses. The common dining room is in a cave that can be lit up by candles and heated by a fireplace in cold evenings. Hiking routes to interesting places of variable difficulty are all around, including to the glacier. The campsite has brand new WC and shower facilities with an outdoor sink for dishwashing.
