About this experience

The Kaarinanpolku Trail is a popular long hiking trail that runs from the northern part of Kangasala to the Lempäälä border, where it joins the Birgita Trail.

The route has varied terrain, it runs both in the forest and in the urban area of the city.

The southern part of the route runs through the Salmus Natura area and the landscapes of the rare Koukkurahka bog, in the north through valuable nature reserves with shield pine forests.

The central part of the trail is close to the city’s urban area and services.

The Kaarina trail is also connected to the Tampere and Kangasala trails.

There are five lean-to shelters along the route: Katajajärvi shed, Mustijärvi shed, Personkolo shed, Norojärvi shed and Vähä-Riuta.

The last four shelters are suitable for sleeping.

Vähä-Riuta shed is suitable for up to 20 people and for a winter stay.

Part of the route is a groomed cross-country ski trail in winter.
