In the southern part of Lake Hauhonselkä lies the Mäntysaari recreation area.

On the shores of the forested island there is a natural harbour for boats, two campfire sites and a beach.

An outdoor trail circles around the island.

There are pine trees over a hundred years old in the central part of the island.

The nature of the area is very valuable and Mäntysaari is an important beach protection site.

Planning of structures and management in the area has been done with EU project funding.
