About this experience

Mikkeli Cathedral was built in 1897 on Ristimäki, in the heart of Mikkeli.

The cathedral was designed by Finnish architect Josef Stenbäck, and it represents the Gothic Revival style.

The altarpiece called “Crucified” was painted by Pekka Halonen. The church has 1,200 seats, and back in the day nearly all of the townspeople of that time could fit in at the same time.

Nowadays, the church holds many events, like concerts, in addition to religious happenings.
