The Mound of Hagbard
Zealand, DenmarkThe Mound of Hagbard is a unique and fascinating historical site located in the small town of Jelling in Denmark. It is one of the most important archaeological sites in the country and is believed to have been built by the Viking King Harald Bluetooth in the late 10th century.
The mound is made up of two large burial mounds, one of which is believed to contain the remains of King Harald Bluetooth. The other mound is believed to contain the remains of his father, Gorm the Old. The site also features two large runic stones, which are believed to have been erected by King Harald Bluetooth to commemorate his conversion to Christianity.
The site is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is a popular tourist destination. Visitors can explore the mounds, the runic stones and the surrounding area, and learn about the history of the Viking Age in Denmark.
