About this experience

Ridebanen is a half-circle rampart sealed towards the lake. It dates back to the time before the Middle Ages and is considered to be a castle of refuge for the population of the area in times of war.

Valsøgaard/Nygaard burnt down during the Count's Feud in Denmark in 1534-36. Anne Meinstrup, the owner of the farm at the time, was murdered at Ringsted Thingstead. There are visible moats around the old foundation. The farmhouses were demolished in 1587.

Parking is only allowed on Valsømaglevej, which is 300 m from the rampart.
