Højst Church
Jutland's South & West coast, DenmarkAbout this experience
The parish church in Øster Højst is a well-preserved Romanesque brick church from the 13th century.
At the top of the Romanesque building parts there is a round arch frieze with a cornice frieze.
The tower is built in Gothic style and the small porch in baroque style.
In the western vault of the nave, the frescoes are dated to 1501.
Among the medieval furniture are a Romanesque baptismal font made of granite and an altar table with a Gothic altarpiece.
On the north wall is a chancel crucifix, where the side figures are late Gothic and in a side altar Mary is seen with the child.
